I'm not a fan at all of this idea. I like scary movies and thrill rides but I don't enjoy anything that has to do with anybody or anything physically jumping out at me. I always avoid anything of haunted houses and anything Halloween whatsoever. I was at universal today and as we were waiting in the queue I saw the party infront of us was jumping and terrified, not to mention loud screams coming from the hallway and I felt extremely nervous and scared I could barely move. I had waited in line for nearly an hour and I find this surprise. I was unaware there were scareactors, I'm just glad it hit the party infront of us because it gave me enough time to head out the emergency exits. It was humiliating at some point because I'm a 20 year old and escaping a ride. I saw people beforehand leaving and I didn't understand why but then I became one that did leave. Luckily as I headed out a crew member approached me and asked me if I still wanted to ride and I said I did but I didn't want to go through the queue because of the scareactors and he let me pass through a seperate line that let us directly to the ride. And to be honest I'm glad I didn't get through the whole queue because it wouldn't have been worth it whatsoever if I had got scared by the scareactors. I found the ride not scary whatsoever, I'm not riding this again in the future just because of the scareactors. Unless the singles only line doesnt have scareactors. Keep in mind that not everyone likes to get jumped on. I'm 20 years old and I love scary rides but I hate people jumping at me.

I think its a horrible idea. I'm ok with rides and animatronics but after being attacked I find people scare acting intensely unnerving. I cant even do Halloween parties, i love scary rides though but only if there arn't people there. just like i like scary movies. but there is no real threat there but add a man deliberately jumping out at me where im in a small space such as a queuq and i hyperventilate and faint and cant help it. for me it rules out a ride i would love to do as i couldn't risk the queue. would there be a way to bypass?

GREAT idea. Wish I thought of it first!

I think it's a great idea and the mummy ride still has a scare element in the queue as a puff of air sprays at random times making people jump also I think the scare actors can see groups with younger children coming through and would more than likely choose to opt out of trying to scare them and let them pass or just maybe not physically jump out just move a bush or make a noise as it would still be a scare just not as intense.

Sure, not every ride has robe made for kids, but not all theme park attendees are as savvy in their research as we Theme Park Tourist readers. Parents will only see the restriction height and not bother to take into account how scary it may be for their child.
Having said that, I think many are making this a bigger deal than it is. The Scareactors will have a monitoring system in place so that they will know who is in the queue and an appropriate action for those in said queue.

Honestly the scare actors were such a small part of this queue and you knew they were coming. There is one part with a scare actor and that's it. Keep the person who is scared on the far side and they don't have to worry about anything. Though honestly I don't see this lasting very long. People complain about everything. 'Oh my five year old got scared its your fault Universal', when there are signs outside warning you it may be too scary.

On a good thing. The ride is really cool! I do recommend for whenever it does open!

The mummy ride had scareactors.

The mummy ride had scareactors.

Scareactors in the queue? Sounds intriguing. I think they should keep them. As for kids, it depends on each individual. Some kids are more than happy to go on thrill rides that a 44 year old woman like me is scared of.

I agree with all of the comments, except the 1 trying to set a time for scare actors to be there! Why should I have to wait until the afternoon to fully enjoy this ride as it should be! If it's too scary for someone then maybe they should go to Disney instead! The original Kong ride was scary to some people too! If it's too much, don't ride! I can't get on the petradone flyers but you don't see me complaining to Universal! That would be like complaining to them that the Jurassic Park movie is too scary! Universal is about thrills & if people can't accept that, then they don't need to go to the theme parks! I can't wait to get caught off guard & scared in the queue! It just makes the rush & excitement of the ride to come more thrilling!!!

I was very excited about the ride, I don't enjoy being freaked out by scareactors while in the queue. It looks like I am out of luck. I was going to schedule a trip to Orlando to experience the new ride. Bummer. Have fun guys!

As far as the child swap thing goes.....I worked in Universal Studios for a while now and you can actually ask to be taken to the child swap room without waiting in the queue.....As long as someone in the group waits, you can wait in the child swap room. Every ride there has a back access. You just have to ask.

It's actually just been team members so far. And you barely notice the scareactors I didn't even notice them all 3 times I rode.

Revenge of the Mummy opened with scareactors in the queue. However their contract was only for a few months.

I agree with most of the comments, however I wouldn't mind it if the ride had no scare actors from opening until 12pm and then made the ride's queue more intense with scare actors from noon to 6p and then down right crazy intense scary from 6p to closing (even scarier then originally planned). It may keep people in the park longer and make people want to experience the attraction multiple times in a day.

I agree with all the previous comments. If your child is going to be too scared, then don't take them on. They need to leave it as planned for those of us who love the scares. And I have an 11 year old who will love this ride! She lives for this kind of stuff. There HAS to be things for the older kids and adults!

The height restrictions have actually been raised to 36 inches.

Sure, theme parks are for everyone. Not all rides must be. If parents find this feature unsuitable for their children, then dont participate. Disney is down the road. Lets not knock innovation that is providing jobs for scareactors. Universal has already made the decision not to have human "drivers". That should be more controversial than a brilliant theming decision which provides employment where there otherwise be none.

This article ticked me off. All attractions don't have to be made with children in mind. Universal is clearly not Disney, if kids don't want to go on scary rides they can go to Disney. Don't create an artificial uproar and cause Universal to change what's going to be an awesome experience. Parents don't take their kids to the 365 haunt at UOH, they can stay away from this one ride.

If the kid can't handle the scares, don't bring the kid. Don't ruin the fun. There's more to amusement parks than tiptoeing around kids.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong is an incredibly intense adult attraction, it is not meant for children

Not every attraction needs to cater to children, and, as someone who's ridden the attraction, am glad to see Universal isn't scared to make a scary ride

The height restriction is just a safety requirement of the ride vehicle, not a recommendation, this ride is NOT suitable for children
