The worst thing imo about Seaworld's decline is that they are the world leader in public education for animal rescue/rehab and fund tv shows, rescue teams, rehab facilities for wild animals. To me, that work is more important that the park but the park pays for all that other work. There will be a large void in wild animal rescue/care if Seaworld parks continue to decline.

I CANNOT wait til all those tanks are empty. With what we know about cetaceans in captivity now and how much they suffer, we OWE it to these species to right our wrongs. There is NO excuse!!!!!! $laveWorld is one of the most evil corporations in existence today. Anything for the all mighty dollar, right??? DISGUSTING!!!!

I sincerely hope SW will always be available for visiting and education. Every year I attend the park and enjoy it every time. I never would have seen nor learned about the sea life had it not been for SW. I will hope that it does not disappear.

They should begin draining the tanks now.

What SeaWorld inflicts onto Orca whales is criminal. Orcas too huge, too sentient and too intelligent to be kept confined inside concrete swimming pools. Everything natural has been stripped away from them when placed inside a tank. Orcas are far swimming, deep diving and stay with their family Pods. None of this is possible at SeaWorld. SeaWorld needs to end masturbating Orca whales and artificially inseminating the females because it is cruel, sick and inhumane. The days of the performing whale circus are numbered. SeaWorld change your business model evolve and adapt. Instead of earning your dollars from the misery of incarcerated Orca whales focus on ocean theme rides with virtual reality.

I think SeaWorld's fortunes will turn for the good soon. Universal has been on a building spree the last couple of years and it appears that Disney is doing the same with the Avatar project at DAK and the recent closing a at DHS. Everything is cyclical so business will pick up in the future.

I was in Florida for a week a couple months ago and wanted to spend one day at a park and had considered either Sea World or Busch Gardens, assuming I could find a reasonable discount. I ended up not going to any park at all. I don't see theme parks as a "week long vacation". I see them as a thing to do on one day of a vacation, and none of the ticket plans reflect that. Over $250 just to walk in the gate for a family of 3 is too much. I would rather enjoy natural Florida and spend less money for a day at a nice regional park.

Me and my family, Went to SeaWorld Orlando, and it's Aquatica Waterpark for a weekend trip just 3 weeks ago. When we we're there it seemed to be doing just fine. Very crowded Saturday at Sea World, 45 minute waits for all the Coasters and most other rides. Fairly crowded Restaurants, All seats full at nearly every show and performance, and even the gigantic Shamu stadium was at least 80% full at both the Daytime, and Night-time shows I attended. Don't even get me started on how crowded Aquatica was on sunday, there was spots where the walkways where so full of people you could not even get through. and water slide wait times where close to an hour each. It was a great weekend, Happy people everywhere, even with the crowds. Nice Park, Happy Staff, and with the $89.00 two day, two park pass I got at AAA-South, (Compared to Disney's $105 a day, or Universals $134 two park 1 day pass (to see all of Potterverse) I'd say Sea World offered me a much better bang for my buck. (also: I used the extra money I saved to buy Sea Worlds "Eat All Day wrist bands" and we ate awesome food all day long without worrying about the costs. (now if we could just avoid those parking lot fees) Sea World Orlando is still Great.

I think the title of the article is misleading a bit as SeaWorld Orlando's parks are seeing an increase in attendance over the eight other parks in the chain. That attendance drop accounts for all of the parks. I live here in Orlando and I frequently visit SeaWorld Orlando quite often and I've noticed what seemed to be a steady increase in attendance over the last few months which I think is a very good thing. I haven't been to Aquatica yet but I've heard it's one of the best water parks in the area so I might have to go when it's not so busy.
