Change is good... but closing attractions instead of adding is not the best way to go about it. Why close the Indy show to give space for a Star Wars area ? Why not expend and ADD the Star Wars area while keeping the Indy show ? Last time I went to the park (and that is less than 2 weeks ago), the Indy show was full and people love it. It's one of the reasons I want to go to HS. I really don't understand the need for closing attractions, especially those that are popular. Backlot tour was very interesting and simply updating it would've been a better choice instead of closing..... anyway, I'm just a guest, what do I know.

These changes can't happen soon enough. The park is really tired. I hope the Carsland happens. Rumors are now that it won't. That would be a shame. Getting rid of Indy, the back lot tour is great as these are really poor attractions by today's standards. Let's home for the Little Mermaid stage show to go soon, too.

I agree that change is good (in certain aspects) but something about number 3 on this list I actually find sickening. If the Studio Backlot tour was to be changed why couldn't it just be upgraded to a more elaborate attraction along the lines of what is currently? The sickening part is that turning it into an area based on Pixar films which would include (of all things) a kids play area would ruin the experience for older visitors terribly! The entire resort complex has more than enough of these as it is and on top of everything far too many vivid and life-like attractions have already been replaced with children's attractions and this is unbelievably absurd given that the Disney legacy is all about every person regardless of age or any other characteristic. How is it that this incredible series of theme parks is evolving into an environment exclusively for small children? I've pondered the reason for this for a lot of years and to this day can't for the life of me come up with any idea! Hollywood Studios is about movies so a Pixar attraction would be appropriate there but certainly don't replace a ride that's up to a more mature and real life level just to satisfy child guests!

I don't think we'll be seeing Cars Land come to Florida. Disney has been pretty clear that they want Cars Land to be a California exclusive, plus I'm not sure they'd be willing to shell out another billion for a duplicate ride.

The studio backlot tour was on borrowed time... it's more a reminder of a failed attempt to turn Orlando into Hollywood East.

I like the thought of the changes to the Studios. As much as I have loved all of the original attractions and rides (since I have been going to Disney for the past 30 years), it is definitely time for an upgrade. The thought of bringing a Cars Land to Florida is nice, but I really would rather see something original. Lately it seems that Tokyo Disney and it's sister land gets all of the original and innovative attractions. Bring that s*** to the WOrld!

I love the idea of updating HS, however with closing so many attractions at one time what is going to happen to the wait times of the remaining attractions?

Change is good - even though I never got to experience the backlot tour. I had to leave WDW early for an emergency. However, I have been a huge fan of US/IOA since US opened and it has really saddened me to see so many originals go from there. I think that WDW needs to be very careful on which attractions are replaced. Many of us have very fond memories of certain rides from when we were kids and it means a lot to us that we can experience those rides again with our own children. As far as Hollywood Studios goes, I would really hate to see The Great Movie Ride go. I heard a rumor about a possible update. I think that (TGMR) is the essence of what Hollywood Studios is. However, I hate that it is losing it's backlot touch. Much like Universal Studios.

So the last day of backlot operation is Friday? I thought its last day of operation was this Saturday. This will change a lot of my plans if so.

So glad we got the chance to ride the back lot tour last week before it closes. My hubby even got to be part of the pre show too. It's a shame it is a shadow of its former self. I'm keen to hear what Disney has in mind to replace it.

Actually, looking at Google Maps, if Cars Land at MGM is true, it could be bigger than the DCA version. With Backlot and Light Motors Action gone, it can easily fit Radiator Springs. In fact, drawing a shape around Studio Backlot Tours alone on Google Maps (map link at bottom) shows that it takes up about 15.4 acres, compared to DCA's Cars Land taking up 13 acres.

Also interesting to look at is that, with the exceptions of Mama Melrose's, Streets of America, Muppetvision, and Star Tours, the announced and rumored closings at MGM takes up the ENTIRE Southern HALF of the park (you read that right). And with the actual animation studios gone, I could see the Animation Building and/or the Animation Courtyard being replaced by the Streets of America, Mama Melrose's,and Muppetvision (yes, I did leave one from the last list out on purpose, but just wait). This would leave Star Tours by itself on the Southern Half of the Park, which would make room for.......

STAR WARS LAND!!! Yes, I am calling it now. The entire southern half of MGM will be Star Wards Land. While I like the idea of Cars Land, I think they will want to put in a few more Star Wars ride and a few shows instead of a large Cars Land (don't want to copy everything from one coast to another). If, however, they want to put in a Cars Land with a Star Wars Land of the size that I'm speaking of, Cars Land could probably fit in the area behind Toy Story Mania right now, in the parking lot area by Studio Backlot tour.

This is of course my thought of what will happen. I have no evidence that this is happening other than what this article said, Google Maps (https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zKQGqG4CX58s.k38wRSeLcqkc) for the sizing, and the Studio Backlot closing.

From what I've heard, Echo Lake is becoming LucasFilm Studios, with a Star Wars subland along the north shore and Indiana Jones to the Southwest. I've also heard rumors that the Mysterious Island from Tokyo DisneySea will be taking over the Backlot, but other rumors suggest Discovery Bay (Unused Tony Baxter concept) or a larger Mystic Point. Its all up in the blue sky at this point, but that's my two cents
