Jersey Devil Coaster

UPDATE -  The Jersey Devil Coaster reopened on July 16 at Six Flags Great Adventure.

UPDATE FROM PARK -  Kristen Fitzgerald, a spokesperson for Six Flags Great Adventure responded on July 13 to our inquiry regarding when we are likely to see The Jersey Devil Coaster reopened saying, "Our inspection is nearly complete and testing will begin soon. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to reopening the ride for our guests."

The Jersey Devil Coaster continues to remain closed at Six Flags Great Adventure after being shuttered unexpectedly last week. Six Flags Great Adventure responded to a guests question on twitter on July 10 saying "as a proactive measure, the manufacturer RMC has paused operation on two of their second generation single-rail coasters for a full inspection."

This comes as a mighty blow to those guests who had booked visits to Six Flags Great Adventure especially to ride the new coaster. Six Flags Great Adventure apologized for the inconvenience and stated that they hoped to reopen The Jersey Devil Coaster soon.

There is hope that the wait hopefully won't be too much longer as Screamscape reported that the other second generation single-rail coaster Stunt Pilot at Silver wood also had to be closed for a full inspection and was shuttered Friday and Saturday but reopened to guests on Sunday.

The Jersey Devil coaster completed its first full test run on May 21, and went through a soft opening period and media preview day on June 10 with the ride officially opening to the public on June 13.

The Jersey Devil Coaster holds three records as the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest single-rail coaster. The coaster takes guests on a thrilling ride, beginning with a 130 foot lift hill that leads straight into a 87-degree first drop and overbank cutback. It then twists and turns through three inversions over 3,000 feet of track through the dark woods reaching speeds of up to 58mph. Was at the park on 8/10/21 and the Jersey Devil was closed again as was as Kingda Ka.

Hi Bob, yes The Jersey Devil Coaster was closed again on August 6 for another full inspection after there was a technical problem which caused a malfunction with one of the trains of the other second generation coaster Stunt Pilot at Silverwood. Manufacturer RMC made the decision for Six Flags Great Adventure to close The Jersey Devil Coaster to ensure the same issue didn't occur. We are waiting to hear news from the park as to when we can expect the coaster to reopen.

It was closed again for inspection Aug 7. Very disappointing. Any ideas why they had to insurrection it again so quickly?

Jersey Devil is back open and running!!! I just rode it today July 16th. The track is fast, smooth and full of unexpected steep drops and turns. Loved it!

Thank you for the update on this. Am really pleased it was open when you went and you enjoyed it!
