The Big Debate – Did Disney Make the Right Call With Christmas Cancellations?

Disney has had to inevitably make a number of large changes to their holiday offerings in 2020 due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. It has already been officially confirmed that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is cancelled this year. This week it has unfortunately been announced that the iconic Cinderella Castle Dreamlights at Disney’s Magic Kingdom will also not be displayed.

Don’t worry, Disney isn’t cancelling Christmas all together this year. Seasonal character cavalcades will appear at all four Walt Disney World theme parks and the castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is set to be transformed with a rotating series of designs including a regal overlay of red, green and gold.

At Epcot, guests will be disappointed to hear that the Candlelight Processional will not be taking place this year and there won’t be any holiday stage performances in each country. There will be a slimmed down version of the International Festival of the Holidays which is due to start on November 27, 2020 including seasonal food and entertainment by JOYFUL!.

In our latest Big Debate we are asking you your views on this announcement. Do you think this is the right move by Disney based on the current COVID-19 situation?
