Islands of Adventure Reviews and Guide

Universal Orlando's second theme park is the company's first not to be located around a movie studio. Instead, it seeks to take visitors into the movies themselves, with 6 themed "islands" based around a lagoon. After passing through the Port of Entry, guests can head to Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Lost Contintent, Seuss Landing and (from June 2010) The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The Wizarding World has become the focal point of Islands of Adventure, with Hogwarts Castle dominating the park's skyline.

History: Islands of Adventure opened in May 1999, as Universal looked to expand its Orlando resort into a multi-day destination. Adopting a theme of exploration and adventure, the park incorporated high-tech attractions such as the multi-million dollar dark ride The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman. Already hugely popular, the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is expected to push Islands of Adventure to record levels of attendance in 2010.
