The 17 Attractions We Lost Forever in 2016

Though 2016 saw the opening of a lot of new attractions, this year saw more than a dozen closures, including the largest one-day mass-closure at a single park in the entire resort's history. As this year draws to a close let's take a quick walk down memory lane to remember all of the attractions we said goodbye to this year...

 1. Phineas and Ferb meet and greet

Location: Disney's Hollywood Studios

Closed: January 3, 2016

Disney’s Hollywood Studios got 2016 off to a running start on  January 3, which not only marked the end of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at this park, but also the closing of the Phineas and Ferb meet at greet, which was one of two character meet and greets on the far end of the Streets of America.

2. Cars meet and greet

Location: Disney's Hollywood Studios

Closed: January 3, 2016

The other meet and greet that closed in the year's opening days was the Cars character experience, which allowed guests to take pictures with both Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. This character experience debuted in 2011 and while it was never all that popular, it was sad to see these classic Pixar characters removed but never relocated.

3. Lady Tremaine meet and greet

Location: Magic Kingdom

Closed: February 22, 2016

Cinderella villain Lady Tremaine, who used to meet guests right outside the back of Cinderella Castle was one of only a handful of villain meet and greets around Walt Disney World, but in early February Disney decided to remove this villainous character from regular park operations.

4. Town Square Meet and Greet with Marie

Location: Magic Kingdom

Closed: March 25, 2016

Another character meet and greet at the Magic Kingdom was cut late last spring when Marie from the Aristocats was removed from the Town Square area of the park back in March. Unfortunately, Marie has stopped meeting guests at Epcot several months before, making this one character that is no longer available anywhere at Walt Disney World.

5. Dream Along with Mickey

Location: Magic Kingdom

Closed: April 2, 2016

One of the first closures of 2016 was Dream Along with Mickey, which was a fan favorite show that had been performed daily for the past decade in front of Cinderella Castle. Though we love Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire, the loss of this show was certainly tough for those who never got tired of shouting "Dreams Come True!!").
