7 Quiet Changes at Walt Disney World You Probably Didn’t NoticeBy Amanda Kondolojy, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 04:11
The past few days have been quite busy at the Walt Disney World resort for a number of reasons, the largest of which has been a serious uptick in the amount of guests visiting for Spring Break this year. In response to this as well as a few other factors, a number of schedule changes, extensions for limited-time events and more are taking place at several locations. From a character addition at Disney's Hollywood Studios to a special event that is now available all the way into fall 2017, here are all the quiet changes you need to know about, but might not have noticed
1. Tangled photo-op extended indefinitely at the Magic Kingdom
Last month, Disney quietly began testing a new physical prop feature at the Tangled toilets that allows guests to hold one of the glowing lanterns from the film while posing in front of the restrooms. This new PhotoPass test was being offered at random times throughout the day, and while we had no idea at the time if this would be a permanent offering at the Magic Kingdom or not. However, it looks like this restroom photo opportunity has proved to be quite popular, as Disney has said that this will now be a daily offering after dark.
2. Celebration at the Top at the Contemporary extended until fall 2017
Though some have criticized Disney's recent upcharge events as being a little over the top, it looks like the recent Celebration at the Top experience, which allows guests to see Wishes from a private observation deck at the top of the Contemporary Resort, has proved to be quite popular. As a result, this special dining experience, which was originally supposed to come to an end after this month, has been extended through September 24th, 2017.
Celebration at the Top still costs $99 and includes not just a great viewing spot for Wishes, but also canapés, a selection of sushi, flatbreads and other small plates prior to showtime. Drinks, including craft beers, California wines, cordials and coffee will also be available before and during the display. Once the night's fireworks are done, petit four desserts will be available for guests wanting one last "kiss goodnight" in the private banquet room.
3. Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine now available for Fantasmic dining package
Though the Disney Junior Play 'n Dine has been downgraded in recent months, being replaced at lunchtime by the more popular Minnie's Seasonal Dine, guests who still enjoy seeing Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, and other Disney Junior Stars have one more reason to get up early and see these characters, as Disney has confirmed that Fantasmic! Dining Packages are now available for this breakfast character meal. Previously, Fantasmic! Dining Packages were only available for lunch or dinner options. However, with this addition, guests have yet another choice if they want guaranteed seating for this show (and perhaps want to save a little money as well!)
4. Daisy now joining Donald Duck at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Though Donald Duck has been meeting guests by himself at the front of Disney’s Hollywood Studios since late last year, it looks like this character is going to be joined by his pal Daisy, effective immediately. However, in an interesting change, it looks like these characters will not be meeting together, as there are now two different lines in front of the Sid Cahuenga’s building at this park.
