6 Dining Changes Happening Now at Walt Disney World (January 2017)By Amanda Kondolojy, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 06:28
Though it may not initially seem like it, Walt Disney World has truly come into its own in recent years as a real food lover’s paradise. If you count yourself as one of the many who love eating their way around the Walt Disney World parks and resorts, there are some big changes taking effect right now you should know about.
For January's Walt Disney World dining update, we take a look at new menu options at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, plus a new one-day dining deal is introduced for a quick pilot test!
1. Casey's Corner to get rotating menu
Walt Disney World got 2017 off to a delicious start by announcing that Casey's Corner will now feature a rotating menu that will see a new, specialty limited edition hot dog released each month. For January, this Main Street USA eatery will be serving up a special macaroni and cheese foot-long hot dog topped with bacon. However, you only have two more weeks to grab this specialty item, as it will be gone for the rest of the year after January 31, and on February 1, a new menu item will replace it!
2. Free quick service meal deal announced for summer guests staying at a Value resort
Though some have criticized Disney in the past for not offering enough special deals for guests who enjoy the Value-level hotels at Walt Disney World, Disney has announced a new deal that actually applies only to guests who are staying at budget-tier locations. Guests who book a stay at the Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation, or All-Stars Resort this summer are now able to take advantage of a new free dining offer that includes a single free quick service meal per guest, per day, of the stay.
Of course, as you might expect, there are a few stipulations for this free dining deal. Guests must book a non-discounted 5-night/6-day room and ticket package (at minimum) to be eligible for this deal, and booking must be complete before February 12, 2017 (so you only have about a month from now to decide). In addition, this deal is only valid for travel dates this summer, between May 30th and August 24th. However, as long as your dates are right and you remember to book early, the actual deal itself is pretty flexible, as guests can use their free quick service dining entitlements at any quick service establishment at either a Walt Disney World hotel or inside the theme parks, and can choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner for their free meal of the day.
3. Disney introduces the new Disney Dine-on-the-Go plan at the Magic Kingdom
Last week news broke that Disney was testing out a brand new tier of Disney Dining plan that would involve only quick service meals. Named Disney Dine-on-the-Go, this new dining offering will debut today at the Magic Kingdom and will be tested over the next six weeks. Guests who purchase this plan are able to redeem a number of dining certificates at certain times of the day for quick service meals. Each Disney Dine-on-the-Go meal plan costs $29 per guest ($12 for kids 3-9) plus tax and includes the following:
- One lunch quick-service meal that includes one (1) entrée and one (1) non-alcoholic single-serving beverage
- One dinner quick-service meal that includes one (1) entrée and one (1) non-alcoholic single-serving beverage
