The Universal Orlando Resort has announced the final horror maze that will form of its Halloween Horror Nights 2013 line-up, which will be based on the Resident Evil videogame franchise.
Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City will place guests at the heart of city that formed the backdrop for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Both games were released at the height of the franchise's popularity in the late 1990s, and saw the city infested by zombies and other nightmarish creatures.
A video preview of the final Halloween Horror Nights 2013 maze is embedded below:
Iconic monsters including Nemesis, hunters and lickers will all appear in Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City. Popular "hero" characters such as Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine may also pop up. The opening section of the maze will be set in the streets of Raccoon City as portrayed in the early scenes of Resident Evil 2. Another scene will resemble a video game set to "pause".
Michael Aiello, Creative Director for Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights, said of the Resident Evil maze: "We were able to create incredibly elaborate sets that plant you right in the midst of Raccoon City’s apocalyptic nightmare, along with terrifying adversaries that will send them running."
Hosted at Universal Studios Florida, Halloween Horror Nights 2013 will kick off on September 20, continuing on select nights through November 2.
