Rumour: X roller coaster to receive "Ministry of Sound" re-theme at Thorpe Park

X:\No Way Out
X:\No Way Out is set to receive a clubbing theme as part of a major update for the 2013 season.

Theme Park Tourist sources have revealed that the X roller coaster at Thorpe Park will be switched to run forwards this year, with the ride also set to receive an all-new theme.

The indoor coaster, which was known as X:\No Way Out prior to the 2013 season, was out of action during the park's media preview days this weekend. Thorpe Park has previously stated on its Facebook page that it is "working hard to get X ready for opening later in Spring", reinforcing previous rumours that the ride is undergoing a major overhaul.

A source at Thorpe Park has stated that X's trains will run in a forwards direction for the 2013 season, with the ride having previously been billed as "the world's only backwards roller coaster in the dark". If the rumour proves accurate, it will also receive a new Ministry of Sound theme, adding lights and music to tie in with the Ministry of Sound club nights that will be hosted at the park throughout the season.

Thorpe Park is yet to confirm the Ministry of Sound makeover for X, but is likely to make an announcement in the next few weeks. An update to the much-maligned coaster would be no surprise, as it has come in for fierce criticism in recent years due to many of its special effects being out of action and its safety lights often being switched on.

X:\No Way Out was updated in 2006 with new video and sound effects. However, the video screens are now turned off, and the presence of the safety lights removed one of its claims to fame. Its theme, based around being "trapped in a computer virus", is also beginning to show its age.
