Image: Thunder Alley go-kart track removed from Kings IslandSubmitted by Nick Sim on Monday, January 28, 2013 10:53
Kings Island has removed the former Thunder Alley go-kart track, promising that the area will be used for "future park expansion".
The park posted the image below to its official Facebook page, having closed the 12-year-old attraction at the end of the 2012 season. The park is yet to confirm the nature of any planned replacement.
Thunder Alley isn't the only attraction that has been dismantled at Kings Island in recent months. The troubled Son of Beast roller coaster has also been demolished, having been out of action since June 2009. In total, more than 1.65 million feet of timber will be removed, leaving a 12-acre area unoccupied.
