Jurassic Park
Is a major upgrade to Islands of Adventure's Jurassic Park area on its way in 2014?

Alton Towers has finally confirmed the name of its new roller coaster for 2013 season as The Smiler, ending months of speculation. The ride's creepy logo appears to tie-in with horror maze The Sanctuary, which will also return in March. Meanwhile, a major upgrade to the Jurassic Park area at Islands of Adventure is said to be on the cards, while some old friends are on their way back to Disney's Magic Kingdom.

Alton Towers

Alton Towers has confirmed that its new roller coaster for 2013 will be named The Smiler, kicking off a promotional campaign ahead of the start of the new season.

SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando has launched a new mobile application to promote Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, the ambitious new ride that will debut at the park in 2013.

Disney's Magic Kingdom

Disney has revealed that the latest Limited Time Magic event at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom will see a variety of "long lost" characters return to the park.

Epcot

The Orlando Sentinel takes a look at the reopened Habit Heroes at Epcot's Innoventions. The original version of the attraction was forced to close last year after it was accused of being offensive to overweight children.

Islands of Adventure

A major upgrade for the Jurassic Park area is rumoured to be on its way to Islands of Adventure, in time to coincide with the release of Jurassic Park 4 in summer 2014. Orlando United reports that a new family roller coaster themed around an amber mine and a dark ride inside the Jurassic Park Discovery Center are on the cards, along with numerous other updates. If it goes ahead, the revamp of the island is likely to eat up a substantial chunk of the reported $1.5 billion that the Universal Orlando Resort has earmarked for new attractions over the next 10 years.

Universal Studios Florida

Universal Studios Florida has completed the line-up of performers at its Mardi Gras 2013 concerts, with the addition of the All-American Rejects and Kool & The Gang.
