Theme park news round-up - 25th October 2012

LEGOLAND Florida Star Wars Miniland models
The tiny occupants of Star Wars Miniland at LEGOLAND Florida have begun to be installed.

As regular readers will know, we try and cover as much news as possible in-depth here on Theme Park Tourist. Often, though, there are simply too many stories for us to cover. Or, there may be no benefit to us effectively "cloning" a story that already appears elsewhere on the web.

For that reason, we're going to experiment with daily news round-ups over the next few weeks, and hope that you'll find them useful. Our usual news coverage will also continue, with a focus on unique, differentiated articles that provide real value.

With that said, here's a summary of today's news in the theme park world.

Disneyland Resort's Downtown Disney

A new ice skating rink is now open at Downtown Disney, to tie in with the release of Secret of the Wings. A video of Tinker Bell and Periwinkle opening the rink can be seen below:

Epcot

Work on the updated, Chevrolet-branded Test Track is nearing completion, with the ride due to reopen on November 6.

Disney's Magic Kingdom

As we reported last week, several minor updates have been made to Pirates of the Caribbean, while Country Bear Jamboree has received a more extensive overhaul. Orlando Attractions Magazine shares a series of photos of the two attractions.

Disneyland

The Halloween Time celebrations are well underway at Disneyland, and Inside the Magic boasts a huge array of photos and videos of the festivities.

LEGOLAND Florida

LEGOLAND Florida will be following in the footsteps of LEGOLAND California, LEGOLAND Billund, LEGOLAND Deutschland and LEGOLAND Windsor when it opens its new Star Wars Miniland area in November. Large numbers of models have already arrived on site ready to be installed.

Six Flags

Six Flags shares fell 10 percent on Wednesday, despite a 31 percent rise in profits during the third quarter. The fall was blamed on guest spending coming in below analyst expectations
