California Grill to undergo lengthy refurbishment at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has revealed that the California Grill, the signature restaurant at Disney's Contemporary Resort, will close for a lengthy refurbishment period on February 1, 2013.

Few details have been revealed of the changes that will be made to the dining outlet, although Chef Brian Piasecki revealed to the Disney Parks Blog that its menu will continue to offer sushi and grilled dishes. The restaurant is expected to reopen in late summer 2013, with its highly-visible kitchen still being a major feature.

Situated at the top of the Contemporary Resort's iconic A-frame structure, the California Grill is one of Walt Disney World's most popular restaurants. It is also one of few dining locations at the park to enforce a dress code.

The restaurant is a popular venue for couples, who can watch the Wishes fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom from its windows.
