Guests at Tokyo DisneySea have been able to experience its new Toy Story Midway Mania attraction for the first time, ahead of its official opening date on July 9, 2012.

The park has begun a "soft opening" period for the new ride, to enable it to iron out any issues with its operation ahead of its full debut. The surrounding Toyville Trolley Park area, designed to resemble a Coney Island-style seaside amusement park, has also welcomed its first visitors.

As with the identically-named rides at Disney California Adventure and Disney's Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Midway Mania sees guests taking part in a number of interactive, 3D "midway"-style games, in which they earn points and compete with fellow riders while encountering characters from Pixar's Toy Story movie trilogy. The ride is the centrepiece of Toyville Trolley Park, which sits within the broader American Waterfront area of Tokyo DisneySea.

The new sub-land was caught on camera by a guest at the park in the video below:

Unlike its Californian counterpart (and in common with the Florida version), Tokyo’s Midway Mania also features Disney’s FASTPASS, a free virtual queuing system designed to alleviate long lines at the attraction, which has proved to be immensely popular in the United States. The new area and ride is located next to the park’s Tower of Terror attraction.

The version in Walt Disney

The version in Walt Disney World in Florida does have fastpass.

Yep

It does indeed...how could I forget those early-morning stampedes to the FASTPASS machines? Corrected to reflect the fact that the California version is the one lacking the system.
