Disney has released a new time-lapse video that shows the creation of the new Cars Land and Buena Vista Street areas at Disney California Adventure.
Both of the new additions to the park are due to open on June 15, although Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders have already been able to visit them as part of preview events. Work on the Cars Land expansion has been underway for three years, while Buena Vista Street replaces the former Sunshine Plaza area, which closed in August 2011.
The video, embedded below, shows how the two areas evolved during those periods. Both are now completed and ready to open.
Disney California Adventure will be closed to the public on Thursday, June 14, to enable Disney to conduct media previews of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. Fans are expected to start queuing for the opening day of the new areas late on Thursday night.
Cars Land is headlined by $200 million E-Ticket attraction Radiator Springs Racers, and is also home to two other attractions: Luigi's Flying Tires and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Along with a number of shops and restaurants, these are an accessible from a recreation of Route 66 that runs through the fictional town of Radiator Springs.
Buena Vista Street, meanwhile, is a complete reimagining of Disney California Adventure's entrance. After passing through the park's gates, guests will enter on a recreation of a Los Angeles street as Walt Disney might have found in the 1920s and 1930s.
