Images: Inside the Cars wing at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Walt Disney World has released images showing off the planned appearance of the Cars wing at the under-construction Disney's Art of Animation Resort.

The wing will be the second to open at the resort, on June 18, 2012. Inspired by Pixar's Cars movies, it will be based around a recreation of the fictional town of Radiator Springs. Eleven life-sized models of characters from the film will be featured in the area, including Lightning McQueen, Flo, Mater, Fillmore, Luigi, Guido, Ramone, Sheriff, Doc, Sally and Sarge.

The first wing to open at Disney's Art of Animation Resort will be the Finding Nemo wing, which is due to host its first guests on May 31, 2012. Two further wings, based on The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, will open on August 10 and September 15 respectively.

In total, Disney's Art of Animation Resort will feature 1,120 family suites, as well as 864 standard hotel rooms. Walt Disney World is already accepting bookings for the resort, which is designed to compete with nearby "value" resorts such as the Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando.
