Alton Towers has ceased charging booking fees to many debit and credit card users who book tickets via its website, as it aims to encourage online sales.
A £1.50 booking charge previously applied to users of American Express, Visa Debit and Maestro customers, but this has now been lifted. However, those booking with a Visa or Mastercard credit card will still be required to pay the additional fee.
The park has been seeking to increase the number of guests that book tickets via its website. It has recently introduced a 40 percent discount on tickets that are booked at least 7 days in advance, while those that pre-book can also take advantage of "Early Ride Time" an hour before the park's official opening time.
In recent years, Alton Towers owner Merlin Entertainments Group has offered a large number of 2-for-1 deals via newspapers and retailers. While these are still widely available, the company has placed increasing emphasis on online ticket sales for its theme parks, which also include Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and LEGOLAND Windsor.
You can find details of all the latest offers on Theme Park Tourist's Alton Towers deals pages.
