A new version of the Minnie Mouse character is featured in the Minnie's Fly Girls Charter Airline show at Disney California Adventure, which debuted on February 17, 2012.
The show features singing and dancing performers dressed as flight attendants, who perform songs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s in the Condor Flats area of the park. It is hosted by the updated Minnie, who is able to move her mouth slightly in time with recorded speech, as well as moving her eyes.
The talking Minnie Mouse can be seen in action in the video below, and appears to use similar technology to that employed by the talking Mickey character that has been seen both at Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
Minnie's Fly Girls Charter Airline features a range of well known songs, including "Come Fly With Me" and "Straighten Up and Fly Right". It is designed to evoke memories of the "golden age" of flying, when passengers often flew in luxury.
While Minnie Mouse greets fans after the show, the talking version of the character does not perform this duty. Instead, the meet-and-greet Minnie features a static mouth and eyes.
In the early years of Disneyland, characters frequently talked to guests. However, management eventually abolished the practice due to the Cast Members' inability to accurately mimic the character's "real" voices.
