World of Color to close at Disney California Adventure from January 23-26, 2012
Submitted by Nick Sim on Thursday, January 19, 2012 09:15The World of Color show at Disney California Adventure, which has been closed for the past few days, will also be out of action from January 23-26, 2012.
Performances of the nighttime spectacular have been halted from January 17-19, but will recommence for the upcoming weekend before being suspended temporarily for four days. The closure of World of Color will enable essential maintenance work to place, with the show having operated continuously since its debut in June 2010.
World of Color features powerful fountains, lighting arrays and fire effects. An enormous "wall of water" acts as a projection screen for animated video footage, on which footage from classic Disney movies is shown.
Disney's Imagineers designed World of Color to be future-proof, enabling new elements to be added without requiring lengthy refurbishment periods. The first example of this came in May this year, when sections based on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Tangled were added to the show.
