Thorpe Park has released an official video of The Swarm roller coaster undergoing a test run, ahead of its debut at the park on March 15, 2012.

The video, embedded below, features the first footage of The Swarm's "winged" trains in action. Riders will be seated on either side of the trains, enabling them to experience "near-misses" with a range of theming elements. Thorpe Park's latest addition will be the first Bolliger & Mabillard Wing Rider coaster to open in the UK.

The Swarm's trains are designed to resemble the alien "swarm" that lends the ride its name, and will swoop over a post-apocalyptic landscape. This will be dotted with derelict buildings and vehicles, including an enormous "crashed" plane and a burnt-out church that will double as the coaster's station.
