Efteling will launch a new €19 million show dubbed Aquanura on May 31, 2012, which is set to become the third largest water display in the world.

Aquanura will be in a similar style to World of Color at Disney California Adventure and the famous water show at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas. Both feature powerful fountains that are synchronised to music, and have proven to draw huge crowds. The company behind the Bellagio's fountains, Water Entertainment Technologies (WET), is also working on the design and installation of Efteling's new show.

The The LA Times reports that the Netherlands-based park, one of the largest in Europe, will build four viewing areas around its Vonderplas boating lake to hold the audience for Aquanura. The show is set to be based around the themes of the rides and attractions at the park, and will also feature a strong focus on the Frog Prince fairy tale.

While the main 10-minute show will be performed nightly, the Aquanura fountains will also perform shorter shows throughout the day that will be synchronised to an original musical score.

The new nighttime spectacular's debut will conincide with the 60th anniversary celebrations at Efteling, which first opened in 1952.
