Thorpe Park has released a new set of images showing off the winged trains for its new roller coaster for 2012, The Swarm.
The ride will be the first Bolliger & Mabillard Wing Rider coaster to open in the UK, and will see riders seated on the "wings" on either side of the trains. The images show that the vehicles will themed to resemble aliens, part of a "swarm" that has brought destruction to the earth. The trains appear to feature lighting arrays, which will give The Swarm an added visual dimension.
The winged trains will enable riders on Thorpe Park's latest roller coaster to experience near-misses with a number of theming elements. This will include an enormous "crashed" plane, which was recently installed on the site.

Thorpe Park's planning application for The Swarm revealed that the ride will offer a "fly-through experience through a crash scene", which will be populated with derelict buildings and vehicles. To match the depressing scene, the coaster's track will be painted grey with grey-brown supports.
