Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offers final rides on Pandemonium ahead of closure
Submitted by Nick Sim on Friday, December 30, 2011 09:29Guests at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom are experiencing the last rides on Pandemonium, ahead of the roller coaster's permanent closure on January 1, 2012.
Pandemonium, which was formerly known as Tony Hawk's Big Spin, is being removed to enable the construction of Superman: Ultimate Flight, a new launch coaster that will blast riders through a 150-feet-tall inversion. Those visiting the park during the ride's last week of operation can enter their name into the "Last Ride, First Flight" contest for a chance to win two free tickets to ride its replacement.
Pandemonium is expected to be relocated to another of Six Flags' theme parks. The Gerstlauer steel spinning coaster is identical to other models at Six Flags New England, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St Louis, and features cars that spin as they traverse the circuit.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's new addition for 2012, Superman: Ultimate Flight, will be manufactured by Premier Rides. It will hit a top speed of 62 miles per hour and will pack a number of inversions into its compact layout.
