Warner Bros Movie World on Australia's Gold Coast is gearing up for the opening of its new Green Lantern Coaster, which is set to debut on December 15.
The S&S El Loco roller coaster will feature the steepest drop of any coaster in the Southern Hemisphere at 120 degrees, and will hit a top speed of 41 miles per hour during its 1601-feet circuit. The ride will be similar to Mumbo Jumbo at Flamingo Land in the UK, although it will feature updated trains that can hold up to eight riders.
The video below offers a preview of the Green Lantern roller coaster's ride experience:
Warner Bros Movie World has invested $10 million on installing the new roller coaster, which will now open prior to Christmas and not just afterwards as initially reported. The ride's circuit was constructed during a two month period, with testing now underway.
Green Lantern Coaster will be third rollercoaster in the world to be based on the 2011 movie starring Ryan Gosling and the comic books that preceded it. Earlier this year, Six Flags Magic Mountain opened an Intamic Zacspin dubbed Green Lantern: First Flight, while Six Flags Great Adventure debuted a rethemed stand-up rollercoaster known simply as Green Lantern.
