Thorpe Park has confirmed that its Canada Creek Railway attraction will close permanently on November 6, 2011, further reducing the park's line-up for children.

No reason has been given for the closure of the ride, which was one of few remaining rides at Thorpe Park aimed at younger guests. The miniature railway has been in place since 1989, and challenges riders to spot as many model "bears" during their trip round its circuit as possible.

Originally, the Canada Creek Railway was designed to offer a pleasant journey through woodland and past a number of Thorpe Park's other attractions. However, the addition of the nearby horror-themed Saw - The Ride in 2009 provided an unusual backdrop for the children's ride.

Until 2006, Canada Creek Railway ran to Thorpe Farm. However, it was re-routed to a shorter circuit for the beginning of the 2007 season, when Thorpe Farm was closed. The ride also underwent a retheming, with riders being invited to take part in the bear hunt.
