Water Country USA is set for a major increase in its overall size.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has filed plans for a major expansion to its Water Country USA water park, adding an additional 43 acres of attractions.

DailyPress.com reports that the park is aiming to more than double the area of attractions in Water Country USA, though full details of the expansion are not yet known. The Yorktown Planning Commission is set to meet to discuss the plans on October 12, 2011.

The new plan would increase the scope of a previously announced two-year expansion plan. The first phase of this plan saw several new slides, collectively known as Vanish Point, added to Water Country USA in 2011.

It is not yet known when Busch Gardens Williamsburg hopes to complete the proposed work on the water park. In 2012, the theme park will open a new multi-launch rollercoaster dubbed Verbolten.
