Hersheypark will remain closed throughout the September 10-11, 2011 weekend, with the park still dealing with the impact of severe flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee.

The Hotel Hershey and Spa and the Hershey Lodge will remain open, reports PennLive.com. However, the neighboring Zoo America will remain closed, having hit the headlines this week when staff were forced to euthanize two bison who became trapped in the floodwaters.

More than 9 inches of rain fell on Hershey in Pennsylvania during the period that Tropical Storm Lee passed over it. In addition to the the park itself, Hersheypark Drive (a key road for reaching the park) is completely closed, while nearby Pizza Hut and Wendy's restaurants have also been flooded.

Hersheypark recently confirmed plans to open a new rollercoaster, Skyrush, in 2012. The Intamin Mega Coaster will stand at 200-feet-tall, and will cost $25 million to install. It is not known if construction work on the new ride will be delayed as a result of the flooding.
