Kings Dominion set to remove El Dorado at end of 2011 seasonSubmitted by Nick Sim on Monday, August 29, 2011 17:05
Kings Dominion has listed its El Dorado attraction for sale, with the ride set to be removed at the end of the 2011 season.
The ride, a 1001 Nights model manufactured by Weber in 1991, was only added to the park in 2009 when it was moved from the closed Geauga Lake. Its removal is likely to fuel rumors that Kings Dominion will open a WindSeeker spinning tower ride in 2012, with sister park Carowinds having already announced a similar addition.
Screamscape reports that El Dorado is listed for sale on the Ital International site, which is commonly used to offload unwanted rides. It is described as being available from October 2011, coinciding with the end of the season.
Weber was founded by a former HUSS Park Attractions employee, and is similar in design to HUSS' Rainbow ride. It can be seen in action in the video below:
Kings Dominion is yet to make any announcements about new attractions for the 2012 season. The park's last major addition was the Intimidator 305 rollercoaster in 2010.
