Video footage has been released online showing the attractions of Toy Story Playland in action, ahead of the area's official opening at Walt Disney Studios in Paris.
The video was captured during testing of the rides by Disneyland Paris Cast Members on Friday, August 7. It shows two of Toy Story Playland's three new attractions - RC Racer and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop - being put through their paces, with just over a week remaining until the public opening of the new land on August 17.
The highly-anticipated Toy Story Playland will open in time to benefit from the continuing buzz around Pixar's Toy Story 3 movie, which opened to rave reviews around Europe in July. It is designed to give guests the impression of having been "shrunk" down to toy size, with giant-scale toys and other objects strewn around the area.
The attractions in Toy Story Playland are each based on a character from the popular Pixar-created movie series. All of the rides are variations on traditional attractions seen at other parks around the world, including a spinning flat ride (Slinky Dog's Zig Zag Spin), a half-pipe rollercoaster (RC Racer) and a parachute drop tower (Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop).
The videos, courtesy of YouTube user Crumser, are embedded below. The first shows the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop ride lifting guests before sending them plunging towards the ground below:
The next two videos show halfpipe rollercoaster RC racer in action:
The final three videos show off the theming of Toy Story Playland, including the giant model of Buzz Lightyear which stands at the entrance to the land, a large-scale model of Rex the dinosaur and an overall view of the land and its attractions:
Disney has faced criticism for not adding more ambitious attractions to Walt Disney Studios, including a version of the hugely popular Toy Story Mania (versions of which appear at Disney's California Adventure and Disney's Hollywood Studios, and will be added to Tokyo DisneySea from 2012). However, the park is strongly rumored to be adding a new $150 million dark ride based on Pixar's Ratatouille close to Toy Story Playland in 2012.
Theme Park Tourist will be visiting Disneyland Paris later this year and will feature a review of Toy Story Playland on the site shortly afterwards.
