Orlando's major theme parks have announced their plans for Independence Day 2010 celebrations, with events scheduled at Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando.
At Walt Disney World, the Magic Kingdom will play host to the "Celebrate America Fireworks" on July 3 and 4 at 9pm. The park will also hold two performances of the Main Street Electrical Parade on July 4, at 10pm and midnight. Opening hours will be extended, with the park being open from 8am to 1am.
Meanwhile, at Disney's Hollywood Studios, a special "rock 'n' roll" fireworks display will be presented at 9.50pm, between two performances of "Fantasmic!" at 9pm and 10.30pm.
Epcot's "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" fireworks and laser show will be supplemented by a special finale to celebrate American independence, with the performance starting at 10pm. A special Voices of Liberty concert will also take place at 12:30pm, 1.45pm and 3pm on the America Gardens Theatre stage.
At Universal Studios Florida, the park's summer show "Universal 360 - A Cinesphere Spectacular" will return on July 4, before running throughout the summer until August 8. The show takes place on the park's lagoon and features lasers, pyrotechnics and projections of classic movie scenes.
Finally, SeaWorld Orlando will hold a special Fourth of July version of its Reflections Show fireworks show at 9.45pm. It will be preceded by a performance from the 40-piece Governor's Own Band at the Bayside stadium.
July 4 is generally one of the busiest days of the year at theme parks, and most attractions will feature lengthy queues. Disney and other park operators lay on extra entertainment to compensate, but those planning on visiting should be pre-warned that the parks will be packed.
