Main Street Cinema set to reopen today at Disneyland

The Main Street cinema at Disneyland is expected to reopen on Friday, well in advance of the planned February 2 reopening date.

The Orange County Register reports that work to install new floors is now complete, allowing the Cinema to reopen. The attraction will be otherwise unchanged when it returns.

The cinema, located on Main Street, USA close to the park's entrance, plays classic Disney shorts on six different screens. A recorded musical instruments plays over all but one of these - the classic "Steamboat Willie", which was produced in 1928 and was the first cartoon to feature synchronized sound. The building is themed as an old-style movie house, and was one of the original attractions at Disneyland when it opened in 1955.
