Universal Orlando announces dates, line-up for Mardi Grad concerts

Universal Orlando has announced that its Mardi Gras 2010 events will kick off on February 6 with the first in a series of big-name music concerts.
The Mardi Gras celebrations at the resort will run every Saturday night until April 17, and include performances from 13 major acts including Akon, the Beach Boys, Sheryl Crow, KC and the Sunshine Band and Aretha Franklin. The concerts will take place on Universal Studios' main stage, close to the entrance of the music-themed Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit rollercoaster.
In addition to the concerts, Universal will also showcase bands directly from New Orleans in its replica of the city's famous French Quarter. Authentic Cajun cuisine, costumed characters and street performers will add to the atmosphere of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations outside of New Orleans itself.
In addition to the Saturday events, additional events will take place on Sunday, February 14 and Friday, April 9. Entrance to the concerts included with the standard entry fee for Universal Studios - which Universal updated yesterday.
