Submitted by Nick Sim on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 06:42Drayton Manor is to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a special fireworks and laser display on October 31 and November 1.
The Diamond Jubilee Fireworks Spectacular will take guests on a historical journey through the history of Drayton Manor and its main attractions. The display will start at 7pm, with last admission at 6pm. Selected rides will stay open late until 9pm.
The event will take place around the park's lake, with fan-shaped water fountains acting as projection screens to depict the park's history. Also featured will be smoke features, lasers and searchlights which will light up rides around the park.
Drayton Manor opened on October 16 1949 and has since grown in size despite its proximity to the hugely popular Alton Towers. It is home to Europe's only stand-up rollercoaster, Shockwave. The park also hosts a 15-acre zoo containing over 100 species.
