Disney tests centralized FASTPASS system at Animal Kingdom

Disney is trialling a new FASTPASS system at its Animal Kingdom park, allowing guests to pick up a pass for any ride at a single location.

Currently, guests have to visit an attraction in order to pick up a FASTPASS. Under the trial, the FASTPASS station near the It's Tough to be a Bug attraction has been updated to allow guests to pick up passes for Dinosaur, Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris as well. Guests can still pick up passes from stations near the individual attractions.

FASTPASS is Disney's system for cutting ride wait times. Guests are given a "time window" in which they can return to ride and join a much shorter FASTPASS queue. Only one FASTPASS can be held at a time - for instance, guests cannot pick up a FASTPASS for Dinosaur until their pass for Expedition Everest is used or expires (which occurs after the time window has elapsed).

The centralized system is currently under trial and Disney has made no announcements regarding rolling it out on a wider basis.

What do you think of the centralized FASTPASS system. Is it a good idea? Let us know in the comments section below.
