Star Wars Weekends coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios
Submitted by Nick Sim on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 06:33Star Wars fans will be flocking to Disney's Hollywood Studios in May and June for a series of themed weekends.
The events will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 22-June 14 (that's May 22-24, May 29-31, June 5-7 and June 12-14). Star Wars "characters" will be present at the park to meet fans, and the Jedi Training Academy (a regular show at the park in which kids can "train" to be a Jedi) will take place throughout the day.
Attending the event doesn't cost any extra over and above the usual Hollywood Studios entry fee. Other planned activities include Star Wars trivia contests, special parades, and autograph sessions with famous Star Wars actors and creators. There'll also be opportunities to spend money, of course, with "one-of-a-kind" Star Wars memorabilia on sale.
Disney's Hollywood Studios has had a long relationship with Star Wars, despite the films not being produced by Disney. As well as the Jedi Training Academy, the Star Tours simulator ride has been a fixture at the park since 1989. It is due to be replaced with a new version, Star Tours 2, in 2010.
