Alton Towers increases parking fees
Submitted by Nick Sim on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 21:16Alton Towers has increased the parking fee for day visitors by 25% to £5.
Many visitors will no choice but to pay the charge, given the remote location of the park. The exceptions are annual pass holders and hotel guests, who can park for free.
The parking fee was introduced in 2002 and has increased twice since. It contrasts with the situation at other Merlin Entertainments parks in the UK, which still offer free parking.
The park recently rejected plans to build a £12m bypass to relieve traffic problems in the village of Alton.
