Walt Disney Studios
Animagique features a similar plot to the 4-D movie Mickey’s Philharmagic at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. However, it uses giant fluorescent puppets rather than a video screen to tell its story.
The show takes place in darkness, with the puppets being lit up by ultraviolet lights. The stories sees Donald Duck taking a trip through the Disney “animation vault”, and includes scenes and characters from a variety of classic animated movies including Dumbo, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King.
Up to five performances of the show are put on each day, with performance times listed in the park’s daily schedule.Review:
There are persistent rumours that Animagique will be replaced by a version of Mickey’s Philharmagic, but we hope that this unique show stays in place (or is at least replaced by an original attraction, rather than yet another clone of a Walt Disney World favourite).
The puppetry is excellent, and offers plenty for adults to admire as well as keeping children happily entertained. The range of classic Disney tunes will also leave you humming along for the rest of the day.Top Tip:
The theatre holds up to 1,100 guests, so getting into a performance isn’t generally a problem. Try not to sit too near the front, as this can break the illusion by enabling you to see the puppeteers.
