Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Reviews and Guide

Walt Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon is the world's most popular water park, having welcomed 2.06 million guests in 2011. As its name suggests, the park is themed around a tropical paradise that has been struck by a typhoon. It features a variety of slides and pools that fit in with this backstory, which are incorporated into several themed areas: Hideaway Bay, Mount Mayday, Shark Reef and Typhoon Lagoon itself. The entire park is encircled by the Castaway Creek "lazy river", with the headline attractions being the Crush 'n' Gusher water coaster and the world's largest outdoor wave pool.

History: With Disney's River Country water park struggling to cope with the volume of guests at Walt Disney World, the resort opened the much larger Typhoon Lagoon in June 1989 (River Country subsequently closed in November 2001). It proved to be a massive success, and has continued to draw large numbers of guests ever since. The attraction line-up at the park has remained relatively static, although Crush 'n' Gusher was a major addition when it opened in March 2005.
