Located in the coastal resort of Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire, Pleasure Island is home to a variety of thrill rides and family attractions spread across several themed areas. The park's biggest draws are the Boomerang roller coaster and a variety of swinging, spinning flat rides, but it also boasts some lesser-known unique rides such as the UK's only Gravitron (formerly located at Alton Towers). For younger guests, the park offers a variety of children's rides and live shows featuring parrots and sea lions.
History: Pleasure Island was originally conceived as a sister park for Pleasurewood Hills during the theme park construction boom in the UK in the late 1980s. However, after backers RKF Entertainment went bust, the site (which formerly housed Cleethorpes Zoo) was bought up by Robert Gibb, the manager of Flamingo Land. It finally opened to the public in May 1993, and has added to its attraction line-up over the proceeding two decades. Local residents were shocked in April 2010 when the park suddenly closed following a management dispute. Ownership was subsequently transferred to a firm headed up by managing director Melanie Wood, and it reopened two weeks later.
