Key Information
Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s Wild Mouse is one of only three wooden coasters of its type remaining in the world, having first opened in 1958. It was extended in 1960, adding an additional section to its circuit.
The ride shares some similarities with modern “wild mouse” coasters, particularly its sharp, flat turns and small vehicles. However, it differs in one critical way: it is much more intense. Hitting a maximum velocity of 35 miles per hour, the coaster’s trains fly around the tight bends at breakneck speed. In places, the car’s outer wheels actually leave the track, while riders are lifted off their seats by some of the sudden drops.
