This is the weekly rumor and refurbishment update for the Orlando-area theme parks for the week of April 6, 2014.

Walt Disney World

MyMagic+

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders have begun receiving their MagicBands in the mail and mine arrived last week. It did not come in the “Incredibles” themed packaging that resort guests will receive.

I prefer the Annual Passholder packaging.

The MagicBand also comes with a complimentary slider that says “Passholder 2014”.

It’s a nice gesture to distinguish Annual Passholders from regular ticket holders.

Inside the packaging is the Annual Passholder discount card. A gold card includes parking and a black card excludes parking. The card is not RFID enabled and cannot be used for park admission.

Currently, Annual Passholders cannot add a credit card to their MagicBand and thus will need to use the card when wanting to receive a discount.

Epcot

Two weeks ago we mentioned a new paint scheme coming to Epcot’s Future World. Well apparently those are not test colors as the random stripes of greys and browns have expanded.

I am going to withhold judgment of the look because the new colors are part of a larger project that will continue throughout the summer.

Epcot After-Hours Wind Down

Disney is now allowing guests to stay at Epcot past the 9 o’clock close. Starting April 17 and lasting until September 15, you can spend your night at one of four spots in World Showcase.
